Memrise: speak a new language

★★★★★ For me, it helped a lot. I am learning Dutch (please send your condolences), but this app gives me a clear understanding of grammar (when to use het or de) and it's more useful if you want to learn a new language. Ditch that duolingo trash

★★★★★ In terms of teaching, it's way better than most apps on the market. I learned multiple languages with Memrise surprisingly well. If you haven't tried Memrise yet, give a shot, and you will see the difference when you are starting to learn from scratch.

★★★★★ I really think this is one of the best language learning apps out there.... But it has one major flaw. I'm here to learn a language and speak it fluently, but the app is way too easy. To properly learn a language, all inputs need to be done on either typing or voice. There needs to be a setting in app that allows users to make answering more difficult (voice or typing inputs only rather than multiple choice). I had to take a star away because of this problem.

★★☆☆☆ I loved this app up until today when I had my first conversation with a bot who tried to bait me into a fight about a social issue. Like, sir, you only have one job to do: teach me how to speak a new language. Don't hijack my time with b.s. lectures on social, political, or religious topics. Not everyone will believe as you do. You will lose users that way. I know that the bot was programmed to give a lecture about that social issue. It's not a good look.

★★☆☆☆ I love that the Mexican flag is shown, this means I can learn Mexican?!?!

★★☆☆☆ Deleting community courses was the worst decision ever. I was buying premium ONLY to learn Estonian from community courses. Now this app is useless for me.

★★☆☆☆ EDIT: it got even worse. I reinstalled to see if there were any changes. It doesn't allow you to download the lessons anymore and the default course progress is lost, so you can't easily review past lessons. I've lost all my progress and community courses, the set courses don't have any kind of structure, and I can't opt out of the AI tool - every other lesson it actually pushes me to use it and I need to exit the lesson and go back and select each section manually.
