This app works. I used this app to sign an apk to stop Google Play Store from prompting me to update it. It is a popular app that came pre-installed on my phone. What I discovered (after the signed apk failed to install) was that Samsung (and probably other companies) have customized their apk for the app. One needs to remove all symbolic links to the installed app, before one can install the newly signed apk. ADB allows one to do this. Don't blame the developer. Do your research. Good Luck!

UPDATE: Unfortunately, update to Play makes update nags appear on signed apps, which then fail to update, a big hassle, making this app no longer useful for my use case. Developer unwilling to fix the problem. -3 stars. PRIOR: Great way to sign an APK to avoid future updates to an app. When the signed versioned is installed, you no longer get nags in Play Store to update. This is important for apps where the developer has taken it in a direction that doesn't work for me. 5 stars.
